Privacy & Dignity

Privacy is not a feature at PenPal Promise — it is the foundation. We built this platform around the understanding that asking for help takes courage, and that courage deserves to be honored.

What We Never Share Publicly

  • Full names of any community member
  • Physical addresses of any kind
  • Phone numbers or personal email addresses
  • Financial details or account information
  • Any information a member has not explicitly chosen to share

How Introductions Work

When a helper expresses interest in connecting with a penpal, we make the introduction through our own secure email. We share only what both parties have agreed to share. From there, you decide together how your relationship evolves — including whether to ever share more personal contact information.

Your Right to Step Back

Every member of this community — whether giving or receiving — has the right to step back at any time. We ask only for a little notice so we can support the transition gracefully and, if appropriate, help find a new match.

Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to run this service: basic contact information for our own records, and the information that appears in your profile (which you control). We do not sell, share, or use your information for any commercial purpose. We will never contact you except in connection with your PenPal Promise membership.
